We have prepared this section especially for lovers of all birds. Most of their species you certainly know well, because you can meet them almost every day in our country. Literally a few of them, unfortunately, do not occur in our country due to cold conditions, but we can meet them in specially prepared zoo gardens. To make it easier for you to find the paintings on the right side we have included a menu in which we have divided the birds by species. Here we have both Polish, European or North and South American birds. We invite you to play along with us.

Information
- Species diversity: Birds are one of the most diverse groups of animals on Earth, comprising more than 10,000 species. They are found on all continents and in a wide variety of habitats.
- Characteristics: Birds are vertebrates with feathers, two front limbs transformed into wings, beaks and a specialized respiratory system that enables them to fly.
- Flight: Most birds can fly, a unique achievement in the animal kingdom. Their bones are lightweight and often associated with weight reduction, making it easier for them to float in the air.
- Nesting: Birds usually lay eggs, which they then incubate and care for the chicks for a period of time. Nests can be of different shapes and are built from a variety of materials, such as branches, grasses or leaves.
- A varied diet: Birds show diversity in their diet, including insects, fish, plants, fruits, nectar and meat. Their beaks and digestive systems are adapted to specific types of food.
- Communications: Birds communicate through a variety of sounds, singing, shouting and gestures. Some species have very elaborate repertoires of sounds.
- Reproduction and parental care: Birds exhibit a variety of reproductive strategies, including monogamy, polygamy and nesting in colonies. Care of the young can last from a few weeks to several months.
- Migrations: Many birds undertake seasonal migrations, moving long distances to find suitable habitats for feeding and breeding.
- Flight Experts: Birds are the only animals that are capable of active flight. Their ability to maneuver and adjust their flight altitude is a fascinating example of adaptation to different environments.
- Impact on ecosystems: Birds play a key role in ecosystems, controlling insect populations and spreading plant seeds. They are an important part of the food chain.
Trivia
- Flying record holders: Birds are the only group of animals that are capable of active flight. Some birds, such as hummingbirds, are able to stay stationary in the air, an achievement that is unusual in the animal world.
- Eggstones: Relative to their size, bird eggs are extremely strong. Their shell is built to provide protection for the developing chick.
- Copulation in flight: Some birds, such as swifts, can copulate in flight, a rare behavior in the animal kingdom.
- Mimicry: Among birds, there is the phenomenon of mimicry, which is the imitation of the appearance or behavior of other species to gain an advantage. An example is the European cuckoo, whose eggs resemble those of the hosts in which the chicks develop.
- Shared accommodations: Birds such as sparrows or swallows often spend the night in groups, forming communities called roosts. This increases their chances of defending themselves against predators.
- Secret migration: Some birds, such as migratory flycatchers, conduct a secret nocturnal migration to avoid predators. They use their magnetic sense to do so.
- Singing females: Many people associate singing with male birds, but there are species in which females also sing, such as the common redshank and gray nightingale.
- Sound and ecology: Bird singing can have an ecological impact. For example, some species have sounds that herald the coming rain, which can be helpful to other animals.
- Learning from the birds: Research on bird behavior provides insights into learning, such as learning by observation or the ability to recognize faces.
- Longevity: Some birds can live a very long time. Albatrosses, for example, can reach the age of 50 years or more, making them among the longest-lived birds.
