The next day we would share an egg at breakfast and celebrate this holiday. Easter is a Christian holiday that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, the history of the Easter basket (and the Easter bunny) and its traditional accessories has nothing to do with the story of the resurrection. Rather, it goes back thousands of years.
As for the additions to the basket - rabbit, eggs, other wares - everything was based on symbolism. Since the Middle Ages, the hopping hare was a symbol of fertility. According to European folklore, the hare was supposed to leave children a basket filled with colorful eggs, and when settlers immigrated to America, they brought the story with them. Eggs - decorated or not - have historically been mythological motifs of new life. Ancient Egyptians, Asians and Greeks believed in the premise that the world was born from a cosmic egg. For Christians, the egg symbolized the empty tomb of Jesus, and they dyed it red to symbolize the blood of Christ. When it cracked open, it represented his resurrection.
