Characters from Harry Potter
Harry Potter - is a wizard, the only child of James and Lily Potter. He became famous for surviving Lord Voldemort's attack as an infant. For the first eleven years of his life, Harry lives with his mean aunt and uncle and is unaware of his wizarding roots. It is not until his eleventh birthday that he learns, somewhat by accident, that he is a wizard and is invited to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. At Hogwarts, he ends up in Gryffindor house.
Hermione Granger - Along with Ron Weasley, she becomes one of Harry's best friends. She is also in the Gryffindor house. She is very smart and hardworking and always gets the best grades in her exams. Her parents are muggle dentists. It is often together with our main hero that they fight against the forces of evil.
Ronald Bilius "Ron" Weasley - A shy, unassuming boy who comes from an indigent wizarding family. Ron is Harry's first friend at Hogwarts, and they become close. He lacks his friend's ebullience and charisma, but his loyalty and help are useful to Harry during their adventures. Ron's mediocrity, despite his wizarding background, reminds us that success at Hogwarts is based solely on talent and hard work, not family connections. All three, along with Hermione, become best friends at the university.
Rubeus Hagrid - A giant who works as a groundskeeper at Hogwarts. Rubeus Hagrid is a well-meaning being who has more kindness than reason. He cares deeply for Harry, as evidenced by the tears he sheds when he has to leave baby Harry with the Dursleys. His fondness for animals is endearing, even when he gets him in trouble - like keeping a dragon in the house. He is mainly concerned with breeding dangerous animals and ovulating them.
Albus Percival Wulfryk Brian Dumbledore - The kind and wise headmaster of Hogwarts. Although a famous wizard, Dumbledore is as humble and charming as his name suggests. While other school officials, such as Professor McGonagall, are obsessed with rules, Dumbledore respects them but does not overstate their importance. He seems to have an almost superhuman level of wisdom, knowledge, and personal understanding. He is the most powerful teacher at the university.
Lord Voldemort - A great wizard who became evil. When he killed Harry's parents, Voldemort gave Harry a scar in the shape of lightning. Voldemort shaped Harry's life in this way.... Voldemort, whose name in French means either "death flight" or "death stealing," is associated with both high magic and deception throughout the story. He is determined to avoid death by finding the Sorcerer's Stone. Voldemort's weak point is that he does not understand love, and thus cannot touch Harry's body, which still bears the marks of Harry's mother's love for her son.
Draco Malfoy - An arrogant student who hates our main character and constantly competes with him on all fronts. Malfoy, whose name roughly translates as "dragon of ill will", is a rich snob from a long line of wizards who feels entitled to the Hogwarts experience. He laughs at the poorer Ron Weasley and despises the others. As the plot progresses, Malfoy becomes increasingly hostile to Harry and his friends, and there is a suggestion that he may grow up to be a second Voldemort.
