Magnolia is a beautiful flowering plant, named after the French botanist Pierre Magnol. There are about 210 species of these plants which vary in size, shape, flower color and habitat type. They are beautiful plants that is why we can find them almost all over the world. The size of this tree depends on the species. Smaller species are only 4,5 meters high. Larger species can grow up to 25 meters high and 12 meters wide.
The flowers of this plant come in different shapes, sizes and colors depending on the variety. The size of magnolia flowers varies from 7.5 centimeters to as much as 30 centimeters. The color of the flower depends on the species and can be pink, white, red, purple or yellow. These flowers have a strong, pleasant fragrance, usually smelling as if they have a slight hint of lemon or citrus aroma, and they bloom during the spring. The lifespan varies for different species of magnolia. Most can last as long as 100 years or more.
