The ripper (Gulo gulo), also known as the caracal or wolverine, is a predatory mammal of the weasel family. It is the largest terrestrial member of this family. It inhabits mainly boreal forests and tundra in the northern areas of North America and Eurasia.
The ripper has a strong and muscular body, short legs, a broad head and small eyes. The fur is thick and waterproof, usually dark brown with light streaks on the sides of the body. They are known for their remarkable strength and agility, which allows them to hunt animals much larger than them, such as deer and caribou.
Although they are solitary and lead a mostly nocturnal lifestyle, they are also very territorial and can show aggression toward other individuals. The diet of rippers is varied and includes carrion as well as small mammals, birds and insects.
