Tui is the chief of the people on Motunui Island, having replaced his father. Like her husband Tui, Sina encourages Moana to accept her home on the island and obey Tui's law that forbids anyone to sail on the reef. As Vaiana grows up, she accepts her parents' wishes, and together with her husband, Sina prepares her to one day become the next chief of Motunui.
