NASA, which stands for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, is the United States government agency responsible for the country's space programs and aerospace-related research. NASA was founded on July 29, 1958, and is headquartered in Washington, DC. The agency is known for its many significant missions and projects.

  1. Apollo program: Perhaps NASA's most famous achievement is the Apollo 11 mission, during which astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the moon in 1969.
  2. Space telescopes: NASA is responsible for the Hubble telescope, which has been providing amazing images of the cosmos since 1990. It is also collaborating with other agencies in the design of the James Webb telescope, Hubble's successor.
