  1. Origins: According to Greek myths, the centaurs were descended from Iksion and Nephaea. Iksion was the king of the Lapitas, a people from central Greece. Nephela was a cloud that Zeus, king of the gods, created in the likeness of his wife Hera.
  2. Nature: Centaurs were usually depicted as wild and insubordinate creatures, often indulging in drunkenness and violence. However, some characters, such as the centaur Chiron, were exceptions to this rule. Chiron was a wise and just teacher whose disciples included many famous heroes such as Heracles, Achilles and Asklepios.
  3. Centaurs and Lapits: In Greek mythology, there is a well-known story about a battle between centaurs and Lapitas. The centaurs were invited to a wedding feast of the Lapitas, but under the influence of alcohol they tried to kidnap Lapician women, which led to a fight.
