Due to its appearance it was commonly called a "cucumber". The Jelcz 043 bus was the most popular bus of the communist era. Today we cannot use them to get to work, to the doctor or to school. Restored models can only be driven in larger cities. Some models can be seen in museums or at exhibitions of historic vehicles.
