Mei is a student at U.A. High School, a prestigious school for superhumans (known as "Heros"), but unlike most of the main characters, she is in a 1-H class that specializes in Support Development rather than heroism.
Mei is a brilliant inventor and is extremely passionate about creating gadgets and equipment that can help Heroes in their endeavors. She is very enthusiastic and often uses others as "guinea pigs" for her inventions.
Her power, called "Zoom," allows her to focus her eyes on things up to 5 kilometers away. This power is particularly useful to her as an inventor, allowing her to study and analyze things closely.
Although Mei is not as present in the series as the main characters, her enthusiasm, energy and creativity make her a unique character. She is known for her unstoppable enthusiasm for inventions and her tendency to ignore everything else when she is involved in a project.
