Kokeshi have a straight body and a round head. They generally have a cylindrical body, traditionally painted red and black, but also green, purple, blue or yellow. They are covered with a thin layer of wax or varnish to protect the colors. One of the characteristics of kokeshi dolls is the lack of limbs.
