Gaara is one of the characters in the popular manga and anime series "Naruto," created by Masashi Kishimoto. He is one of the "Jinchūriki," characters who have powerful beasts called "Tailed Beasts" locked inside them.

Gaara is the youngest son of the fourth Kazekage (leader of the Village of Sand) and has a one-tailed sand demon locked inside him called Shukaku. This beast gives him control over the sand, which he uses for protection, attack and even flying. However, being a Jinchūriki comes at a price; Gaara had a difficult childhood filled with rejection and fear from other villagers.
Initially in the series Gaara is portrayed as an antagonist, but after meeting and fighting with Naruto Uzumaki, the main character of the series, he begins to change.
