Katy Perry, whose real name is Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, is an American singer, songwriter and actress. She was born on October 25, 1984 in Santa Barbara, California. She is one of the best-selling female music artists of all time.

Perry rose to popularity in 2008 with the single "I Kissed a Girl" from her second studio album, "One of the Boys." Her third album, 2010's Teenage Dream, brought six singles to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, including "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream," "Firework," "E.T.," "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" and "Part of Me."

She is known for her energetic, colorful and often theatrical musical and visual style. Her lyrics often deal with themes of love, sexuality and self-affirmation.
