Mirai Kuriyama is the main character of the anime series "Beyond the Boundary" (original title "Kyōkai no Kanata"), created by Kyoto Animation. The series is based on the light novels written by Nagomu Torii.

Mirai is a high school student and the last surviving representative of a family of warriors who fight creatures known as "youmu." Her unique ability is to manipulate her blood, which she can use to create weapons - she generally creates a sword from it.
Mirai is shy, clumsy and often seems withdrawn, but has a strong sense of duty. She is often spotted wearing her trademark glasses and pink sweater. Since she is somewhat clumsy in social interaction, this is a source of humor in the series, but is also shown as a source of her emotional strength.
For most of the series, Mirai is partnered with Akihito Kanbar, a half-human, half-youmu who helps her cope with the difficulties she faces as a youmu hunter. Their developing relationship is one of the key elements of "Beyond the Boundary."
