  2. Date of celebration: In the United States, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. In Canada, it is the second Monday in October.
  3. Traditions: Thanksgiving is often spent with family. It is traditionally celebrated with a special meal that often includes turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans and pumpkin pie. Many people also use the occasion to express gratitude for what they have.
