Gnu are strictly grazing animals and strongly prefer sweet and very dense grasses. This grass often grows in areas where there has been a recent fire. Herds of wildebeest are constantly searching for food both day and night. They communicate by sight and smell, but also by distinctive noises that are impossible not to hear.
