John Adams - interesting facts and information

Adams was one of the main founding fathers of the United States and played a key role in the American Revolution. He was one of the principal authors of the Declaration of Independence and later served as a diplomat and ambassador to Europe, helping in the peace negotiations that ended the War of Independence.

In 1789, Adams became the first Vice President of the United States, serving under President George Washington. Then, in 1797, he was elected as the second US president.

His presidency was fraught with challenges, including tensions with France that led to the XYZ crisis. Adams maintained a reluctant attitude toward war, which contributed to his reputation as a president who successfully avoided war, even though his popularity was low.

After one term, Adams was not re-elected president and lost the election to Thomas Jefferson in 1800. After leaving office, Adams spent the rest of his life at his home in Quincy, where he died on July 4, 1826 at the age of 90 - the same day was also the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. His death also coincided with the passing from this world of Thomas Jefferson.
