Kennedy was elected president in November 1960, defeating Richard Nixon. He was the youngest U.S. president when he took office, at 43 years old. His term in office lasted from January 20, 1961 until his tragic assassination in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963.

JFK was a well-known speaker and many important initiatives were introduced during his presidency, such as New Frontier, a social and economic reform program. His best-known initiatives were the Space Program, which gave birth to an expedition to the moon, and the creation of the Peace Corps, which encouraged young Americans to serve abroad.

His presidency was also a period of heightened Cold War-related tensions, and Kennedy was involved in crises such as the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.

Unfortunately, his presidency was cut short by the tragic assassination attempt at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, which caused deep grief and shock around the world. Kennedy's assassin was Lee Harvey Oswald, although to this day there are many conspiracy theories related to the assassination.
