Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968) was an American Baptist clergyman and one of the most important leaders of the civil rights movement for African-Americans in the United States. He is widely recognized as one of the most influential figures of the 20th century.

Martin Luther King - a curiosity of information

King is best known for his role in the development of the civil rights movement on the basis of racial equality, non-traditional political strategies and actions based on the principles of Christian charity. His philosophy was based on nonviolent resistance, known as nonviolent resistance, which aimed to end racial segregation and discrimination.

In 1964, King received the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in the struggle to end racial segregation and racial discrimination through nonviolent means. His 1963 "I Have a Dream" speech, delivered at the March on Washington, is one of the most famous speeches in American history.

King was assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. After his death, many cities in the United States named streets after him, and his birthday is celebrated as a national holiday known as Martin Luther King Day.
