Harry S. Truman (1884-1972) was the 33rd president of the United States. He was born on May 8, 1884 in Lamar, Missouri. He was a member of the Democratic Party.

Truman became president after the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt in April 1945. He had been Roosevelt's vice president since 1945. After becoming president, Truman faced many challenges, including the end of World War II.
