The name of these vehicles comes from the word traction which in English means to pull. This is why in Poland this vehicle is called a tractor, among other things. In the past, when there were no such machines, this work was done simply by draft horses. Of course they got tired and were not as efficient as these machines. The first vehicle of this kind that had a combustion engine was created in 1892, so it's been a long time since they helped such machines in agriculture. It was created by John Froehlich. Breakdown
The classic classification is into wheeled vehicles where they are either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive - these are the most common vehicles used for field work
Tracked vehicles - as the name suggests we have tracks instead of wheels. They are used when the work in the field is heavy or in the forest. We have wet soil in which an ordinary wheeled vehicle can get buried. These tractors are used for the heaviest work and have power of up to 600 HP.
Another division is semi-tracked tractors - here we have a combination of wheels that are either rear or front and tracks. They are created for specialized purposes, for example, they are narrow and we use them in orchards as well as gardens.
