Pterodactyl Coloring Book

Pterodactyl is a popular but imprecise term often used to refer to various species of pterosaurs, a group of extinct flying reptiles that lived from the late Triassic era to the end of the Cretaceous era (about 228 to 66 million years ago). Often, when people say "pterodactyl," they mean a species called Pterodactylus, which is one of the best-known pterosaurs.

Pterodactyl - interesting facts and information

  1. Size: Pterodactylus was a relatively small pterosaur, with a wingspan of 50 cm to 1 m depending on the species.
  2. Diet: Pterodactylus was probably carnivorous and probably fed on fish and other small animals.
  3. Appearance: Like other pterosaurs, Pterodactylus had large wings consisting of a dermal membrane stretched between the body and the long, elongated fourth finger of the hand. Its jaws were elongated and equipped with numerous thin teeth.
  4. Occurrence: Pterodactylus fossils have been found mainly in Germany, but also in other parts of Europe.
  5. Discovery: Pterodactylus is one of the earliest discovered pterosaurs. Its fossils were discovered and described in the 18th century.

It is worth noting that although pterosaurs, such as Pterodactylus, are often mistaken for dinosaurs, they are not actually dinosaurs. Pterosaurs and dinosaurs belong to different groups of reptiles.
