Coloring Book Jungle Book
The Jungle Book is a 1967 American animated film produced by Walt Disney Productions and released in theaters on October 18, 1967. It is the first animated film released after Walt Disney's death. The film was inspired by the tales of the feral child Mowgli from the book of the same name by Rudyard Kipling. The film features many classic songs, including "The Bare Necessities" and "I Wan'na Be Like You".
Most of the songs were written by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. It was directed by Wolfgang Reitherman. It earned over $73 million in the United States in its first release and the same amount again with three re-releases. The film stands as one of the most popular Disney films of all time. In its original release, its popularity was comparable to The Lion King or Frozen, making it a huge influence for some of the biggest names in animation today.
Information about the fairy tale
Mowgli is found in a basket as a baby in a jungle in India by Bagheera, a black panther. He immediately takes him to an Indian wolf who has just had cubs. She raises him along with her own cubs and Mowgli soon becomes well acquainted with jungle life. Ten years later, Mowgli visits the wolves. While Bagheera and the wolves are pleased with how the boy is content with jungle life, they are also aware that he would be better off living with humans. This is how the story of the fable The Jungle Book begins. We also encourage you to check out the coloring pages and read the book itself, in which there are many more themes than in the film itself
Trivia
- The Jungle Book stories were written by 19th century English author Rudyard Kipling. In 1907, the Swedish Academy awarded him the Nobel Prize in Literature for his greatest genius in narrative
- Rudyard Kipling spent 12 years of his life in India, and the stories he heard there served as his inspiration for writing The Jungle Book. The term "Seonee" appears several times in the book, which suggests that The Jungle Book is set somewhere in central India.
- Kipling was good friends with Wolcott Balestier, an American writer and editor, and in January 1892 he married Wolcott's sister, Caroline "Carrie" Balestier. The couple built their dream home in Vermont, and it was there that he wrote The Jungle Book.
- Kipling began preliminary drafts of the book while he and his wife were expecting their first child, and in 1892 their daughter Josephine was born. In a special copy of the book for his daughter, Kipling wrote: "This book belongs to Josephine Kipling, for whom it was written by her father, May 1894." Sadly, Josephine lived only six years, and in 1899 she died of pneumonia, a loss from which Kipling never fully recovered.
- The story of Mowgli and his life in the Jungle is said to be set somewhere in central India. Forest reserves and parks that claim to be related to the stories in the book include Pench National Park and Kanha National Park. However, Kipling never visited these areas.
