In the world we meet several species of giraffes living in different territories. An interesting fact is that the savannah giraffe is the largest ruminant living in the world. Its rhesus reaches from five to six meters in length. The male of the species on average weighs 1200 kg and the female 800 kg.
Giraffes are most often found from Chad (north to South Africa). Grasslands, savannas and open wooded hills are the favorite places of these animals.
The northern giraffe is one of the most common species found on earth otherwise known as the yak proper. Research indicates that there are about 600 specimens in the wild. Of course there are several other species, but they are not so well known: the reticulated, Angolan, Masai, Ugandan and southern giraffes.
Another noteworthy fact about these animals is that they see in colorful colors and have very acute hearing and smell. The giraffe is a very clever creature, because when a storm comes it closes its nostrils to protect itself from sandstorms.
Surely you didn't know that a giraffe's tongue can reach up to 50 cm. Its tail is 100 cm long, with a dark brush of bristles, which it uses to defend itself against insects. In order to give birth to their offspring, giraffes carry them in their stomachs for an average of 15 months (about 460 days). During birth, the giraffe stands on its feet. First the head comes out and then the legs. Amazingly, a giraffe that emerges from its mother's belly is immediately able to move freely on its feet.

- Language: The giraffe's tongue can reach up to 45 centimeters in length. It is also antiseptic, which helps them eat leaves from thorny trees.
- Dream: Giraffes sleep very little, usually only a few minutes at a time and a total of about 2 hours a night. They can sleep standing up, but deep sleep occurs when they lie down on the ground.
- Childbirth: Giraffes give birth while standing, which means that baby giraffes experience a fall from a height of about 1.5 meters right after birth. This, however, helps them start breathing.
